Terra at the Steward Hotel
History Fit for Field-to-Table Dining
The Steward Hotel occupies nearly five lush acres on the grounds of the historic Sexton House, owned by Joseph Sexton, a horticulturist and famed nursery owner. It’s the perfect background for California-style dining at the hotel’s restaurant, Terra.
Make it Familiar…and Interesting
Executive chef and Goleta native, Augusto Caudillo, draws inspiration from a variety of Mediterranean traditions. Try the Yogurt Marinated Chicken, made with local Jimenez Family Farm poultry, served with the best farm-fresh organic vegetables.
Dine Here…or There
Terra offers multiple dining sites— in the Garden Room, by the lobby fireplace or outdoors by the fire pit. Or you can order seasonal sandwiches and salads from the marketplace at The Steward to take on a picnic.
A “Botanical” Margarita
Chef Caudillo is a stickler for high-quality local ingredients, including those in Terra cocktails. The Sexton Margarita, for instance, begins with ultra-pure artisanal mezcal and includes citrus, hibiscus and other botanicals
Local Sips
All of Terra’s beers and wines come from Central Coast purveyors. You’ll find plenty of hard-to-get small-batch wines, and beers from local micro-breweries to meet any style or preference.
There’s Just Something About a Burger
Caudillo’s version is made with Wagyu short rib and chuck, “new age” American cheese, jalapeño-and-caramelized-onion “jam,” housemade pickles, tomatoes, and lettuce on a brioche bun. No wonder it’s the most popular item on the menu.
