Meet Guest Editor Jules Kramer, jewelry designer and owner of the Funk Zone lifestyle gallery Jules by the Sea. Along with several other long-time local artisan makers, her treasure-filled shop is housed in a 1950s Quonset hut located just a few blocks from the ocean. When Jules is not at her on-site studio (which she typically is), you’ll likely find her hanging out with her family or running on Montecito’s Butterfly Beach, scanning the tide for sea glass and other gifts from the sea, which typically end up starring in future ring or necklace designs. She loves connecting with the many visitors-turned-customers from all over the globe who frequent her store and often makes on-the-spot custom adjustments to jewelry pieces to fit their needs. “The shop is primarily curated with handmade jewelry that I have designed and made. Gold-fill and sterling silver alongside ocean-colored gemstones are the principal components used to create the beautiful accessories which capture my elegant yet approachable day-to-night designs. I also offer a selection of quality goods like crystals, blankets and candles, which pretty much represent all my favorite things that inspire laid-back ‘Cali’ living,” says Jules.
